About Maggie
For the past 10 years I have painted with a baby either on my hip or in my belly. Being a mother of five has informed my work, enhanced my artistic voice and stretched me beyond limits I knew were possible. Raising children as a dedicated fine artist taught me to carve out time and space for artistic expression. I dig deep with each stroke of the brush because I have to. I couldn't love my lifestyle more.
Being raised as 1 of 8 children I was blessed to have extremely supportive parents who always encouraged me to follow my passion for art. However it wasn't until I was married that I recognized my art journey as being intrinsically and inseparably connected to my soul. My husband encouraged me to return to school to study... ART. How terrifying! When I sat down with a piece of charcoal in my hand that very first figure drawing class my heart expanded beyond the walls of the studio. I was where I was meant to be! After years of on and off school, many tears and 3 small children I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Design. I've been painting and playing with my children ever since.
My other interests are never ending but a good place to start is reading non-fiction books, swimming in the Atlantic ocean with my kids, and trying my hand at textiles via unattractive amigurumi crochet and embroidery needlework! I also enjoy illusting children's books. I recently illustrated my sister's book Puppy Wren (available on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Puppy-Wren-Kassandra-Thompson-ebook/dp/B09Z35GKW4). I am currently working on a graphic novel of a vision of the Tree of Life! I'm so excited to share it with everyone!
Life is good. I thank my creator for all he has given me and blessed me with.
